Weathered Teak AZEK Deck Resurfacing with Clay Vinyl Railing in Lancaster, PA

Rather than replacing the entire structure, this 2021 deck renovation in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, updated an existing backyard deck with new low-maintenance materials. The deck measures 12.5′ × 20′, providing approximately 250 square feet of refreshed outdoor living space.

The homeowner removed the original deck boards before construction began. The existing joists were retained for the resurfacing project, while the old railing sections were removed and the existing railing posts were reused.

The new surface features AZEK Landmark Collection decking in Weathered Teak. A hidden fastening system was used instead of visible CAMO screws, creating a cleaner finish across the deck boards. The decking was installed without a picture-frame border for a simple, uninterrupted layout.

Clay-colored vinyl railing with black balusters adds warm contrast around the deck while coordinating with the natural tones of the Weathered Teak decking. A matching composite step provides a durable transition between the deck and the surrounding area.

The project also included checking the existing ledger connection and renewing the flashing and seal where needed. New faceboards completed the exposed perimeter, with seams positioned behind surrounding shrubs whenever possible instead of near the step area.
