Stone Ash TimberTech Deck with Cable Railing in Sinking Spring, PA

This custom TimberTech composite deck in Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania, was designed around the home’s existing patio and backyard layout. Completed in 2022, the Option A configuration positions the staircase on the opposite side of the patio area to help maintain an open, functional space below.

The deck surface features TimberTech Terrain Collection decking in Stone Ash. Its softly weathered gray-brown appearance provides the look of natural wood with the durability and reduced maintenance associated with composite decking.

A picture-frame border was added to the final project to conceal the scalloped ends of the composite boards and create a more polished perimeter. Matching Stone Ash fascia carries the decking color onto the exposed edges for a coordinated finish.

The structure is connected to the home with a properly installed ledger board. Horizontal cable railing surrounds the elevated outdoor living area, combining a streamlined appearance with more open views of the backyard. Standard post caps complete the railing system.

The original design included four steps based on the builder’s elevation drawing. After accounting for the finished grade, two additional steps were incorporated, resulting in a six-step staircase positioned away from the patio area.

With its muted Stone Ash decking, finished picture-frame edge, matching fascia, and modern cable railing, this project creates a refined outdoor space that complements the home without visually overwhelming the backyard.
