Mocha TimberTech Deck with Black Aluminum Railing in Palmyra, PA

Completed in 2026, this custom 16′ × 16′ composite deck in Palmyra, Pennsylvania, created 256 square feet of low-maintenance outdoor living space. The design combines rich Mocha decking with textured-black railings and coordinating vertical siding for a polished, contemporary appearance.
TimberTech Legacy Collection decking in Mocha provides the warm appearance of natural hardwood with improved resistance to moisture, fading, staining, and everyday wear. A hidden-fastener system was used throughout most of the deck surface, with visible fasteners limited to the starter boards and fascia.
Matching Mocha composite or PVC fascia finishes the deck’s exposed edges. Mocha vertical board-and-batten-style siding encloses the lower portion of the deck, concealing the structural framing and creating a consistent finished appearance.
The deck was built on a new pressure-treated frame supported by 6″ × 6″ posts attached to a double beam. The posts rest on 8,000 PSI footer pads installed approximately 36 inches below the surface.
The ledger board was matched to the height of the joists and secured to the home using 5-inch LedgerLOK fasteners. Silicone sealant and Z-flashing help prevent water from collecting behind the ledger connection.
Textured-black aluminum railings provide a bold contrast against the Mocha decking while preserving an open view of the surrounding property. Four-foot-wide pressure-treated stairs with coordinating Legacy Collection composite treads and matching fascia provide comfortable access to grade.
