This custom 16′ × 13′ deck replacement creates 208 square feet of covered, low-maintenance outdoor living space. The project includes removing the existing deck and roof overhang before constructing a new pressure-treated frame and attached lean-to roof.

AZEK Vintage Collection PVC decking in Mahogany provides the rich appearance of natural hardwood with exceptional resistance to moisture, staining, fading, and everyday wear. Hidden fasteners create a smooth deck surface, with visible fasteners limited to the starter boards and fascia. Matching Mahogany PVC fascia gives the exposed edges a consistent finish.

The ledger board was matched to the height of the joists and secured to the home using 5-inch LedgerLOK fasteners. Silicone sealant and Z-flashing help prevent water from collecting behind the ledger.

Pressure-treated 6″ × 6″ posts support the double beam and rest on 8,000 PSI footer pads installed approximately 36 inches below the surface. Black vinyl sleeves conceal the structural posts and coordinate with the textured-black Chesapeake Series aluminum railing.

A contrasting AZEK Cypress deck board was installed along the railing to create a convenient bar-top drink rail. Four-foot-wide pressure-treated stairs feature AZEK Vintage Collection treads, matching fascia, and custom-cut stringers designed to reach the exact finished grade.

The attached lean-to roof features a 3.5-pitch design with Barkwood shingles, gutters, and downspouts. A finished Stealth Walnut Versatex/Khem-style beadboard ceiling gives the covered area a warm, upscale appearance. The home’s existing roof overhang was removed to allow for the proper installation of the new roof ledger.
