Large Pressure-Treated Deck with Access Ramp

Built in Newmanstown, Pennsylvania, in 2022, this large pressure-treated wood deck replaced an older outdoor structure and introduced a ramp for convenient access between the deck and surrounding property.
The main deck measures approximately 44′ × 12′, providing about 528 square feet of outdoor living space. An additional ramp measuring approximately 5′ × 20′ adds another 100 square feet, bringing the combined deck-and-ramp area to approximately 628 square feet.
Pressure-treated deck boards were face-screwed to the frame. Because of the deck’s 44-foot length and the location of the ramp entrance, the decking layout includes approximately 20-foot boards on each side, two separation boards, and shorter boards between the ramp opening and the house.
Pressure-treated wood railing surrounds the elevated areas and is finished with a deck board installed across the top. This creates a wider cap and gives the railing a more substantial, coordinated appearance.
The project also included removal of the old deck and installation of a new ledger connection at the house. The finished design did not include stairs, relying instead on the long ramp for access.
