Completed in 2026, this large deck renovation in Auburn, Pennsylvania, refreshed an existing two-section outdoor living space with low-maintenance composite materials. The project includes a 48′ × 14′ main deck and a 12′ × 8′ section, providing approximately 768 square feet for outdoor dining, entertaining, and relaxation.

Deck Zone removed the aging deck boards while retaining the existing pressure-treated frame. The framing was reinforced where needed to correct sagging and provide dependable support for the new decking. A 2″ × 10″ front ledger was added, and rubber joist tape was installed along the tops of the joists to provide additional moisture protection.

TimberTech Prime Collection decking in Sea Salt Gray gives the deck a clean, contemporary appearance. The boards were extended slightly beyond the fascia to create a professionally finished edge. Coordinating Sea Salt Gray fascia was installed on the gable ends of the lower deck, three sides of the upper deck, and the sides of the new stairs.

A one-board-wide Castlegate picture-frame border adds contrast around the deck’s perimeter. Castlegate composite decking was also installed along the top of the pressure-treated railing to create a convenient bar-style drink rail. The wood railing and the framing beneath the upper deck were painted as part of the renovation.

Four-foot-wide pressure-treated stairs provide access to grade and feature TimberTech Prime Collection composite treads with matching decking and fascia. Custom-cut stringers were built to reach the exact finished grade. A separate stair handrail was not included in the project.

The completed renovation extended the useful life of the existing structure while creating a spacious, attractive, and easier-to-maintain outdoor living area.
