Elevated Kona AZEK Deck with White Vinyl Railing in Gilbertsville, PA

This elevated backyard deck was completed in Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania, in 2021. Positioned approximately six feet or more above grade, the deck creates a useful outdoor living area directly outside the home while providing stair access to the yard below.

The deck was constructed with a pressure-treated wood frame, support posts, and footers. A ledger board securely connects the structure to the home, while the elevated framing provides the strength required for the deck’s height and stair system.

The finished surface features AZEK Harvest Collection decking in Kona, a rich brown color that offers the appearance of stained wood with the easier upkeep of PVC decking. CAMO fasteners create a cleaner-looking surface by minimizing visible hardware across the deck boards.

A composite staircase leads to a 4′ × 4′ landing. At the landing, a matching gate is hinged on the right side and swings toward the house when approaching from the stairs. This placement maintains convenient access while coordinating with the rest of the railing layout.

White vinyl level and rake railings with white balusters surround the elevated deck and staircase, creating a bright contrast against the Kona decking. A secondary vinyl handrail was also incorporated along each applicable eight-foot stair section to provide additional support when traveling between the deck and backyard.
