Slate Gray Deck Deck with White Vinyl Railing

Completed in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, in 2022, this project replaced the old landings at the patio door and garage entry with a new PVC deck. The finished 8′ × 12′ layout provides approximately 96 square feet of outdoor space.

The deck was framed with pressure-treated 2″ × 8″ lumber and securely anchored to the house. Two 6″ × 6″ support posts were installed at the outside corners, providing additional support for a potential future roof-over.

AZEK Harvest Collection decking in Slate Gray gives the new platform a clean, neutral appearance with lower maintenance requirements than traditional wood. A CAMO fastening system was used to create a neat, consistent deck surface.

The stairs were constructed to closely follow the supplied project drawing. A kickboard completes the stair design and gives the lower portion of the steps a more finished appearance.

By removing the smaller existing landings and replacing them with one coordinated PVC structure, this project created a more useful entrance area while preparing the deck for a possible future covered addition.
