Custom Pressure-Treated Wood Deck with Stairs in Hershey, PA
Completed in 2021, this custom pressure-treated deck in Hershey, Pennsylvania, creates a practical outdoor space using traditional wood materials throughout the project. Located near Tice Avenue, the deck provides a natural-looking extension of the home for relaxing, grilling, and spending time outdoors.
The supporting structure was constructed with a pressure-treated wood frame and finished with matching pressure-treated deck boards. Using the same material for both the framing and walking surface gives the deck a consistent appearance while providing a dependable foundation for everyday backyard use.
A new ledger board was installed to connect the deck framing to the home. Individual footers were formed using Sonotubes, creating defined concrete support points beneath the deck structure.
Matching pressure-treated wood stairs provide access between the deck and yard. The number of stair rises was determined by the finished height of the deck, allowing the staircase to transition comfortably to the surrounding grade.
From the structural framing and footer system to the finished decking and stairs, this Hershey deck project offers a straightforward, functional example of traditional pressure-treated wood construction.
