Covered Composite Deck with Arched A-Frame Roof in Hummelstown, PA

This custom outdoor living project in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania was completed in 2025 and transformed a simple backyard into a comfortable, low-maintenance space for relaxing and entertaining throughout the year. Before construction began, the project required local permitting to ensure compliance with municipal building requirements and proper structural design.

The homeowners wanted a deck that would provide protection from the elements while complementing the style of their home. To achieve this, Deck Zone designed and built a 16′ x 8′ composite deck featuring a striking arched A-frame roof that creates an open, spacious feel while adding architectural character to the backyard.

The decking was finished in a beautiful Sea Salt Gray composite color, offering the appearance of natural wood without the ongoing maintenance associated with traditional lumber. The light gray decking contrasts nicely with the white vinyl railing system, while black balusters provide a clean, modern appearance that enhances visibility and adds visual depth to the space.

Access to the deck is provided by a three-step stairway, making the transition from the yard to the deck convenient and inviting. To create a polished finished appearance, SmartSide skirting was installed around the deck perimeter, helping conceal the framing while improving the overall aesthetics of the structure.
