Multi-Level Mahogany Composite Deck with Covered Roof and Outdoor Lighting in Hummelstown, PA
Located on Oak Glade Drive in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, this custom outdoor living project was completed in 2025 and showcases how thoughtful design can transform a backyard into a comfortable, all-season entertainment space. Because of the scope of construction and structural improvements, the project required local permitting before work could begin.
The homeowners envisioned an outdoor area that would feel like an extension of their home rather than simply a deck attached to the back of the house. To achieve this goal, Deck Zone designed and built a three-level deck system centered around a spacious 24′ x 10′ primary deck. The multi-level layout creates distinct gathering areas while improving traffic flow and adding visual interest to the outdoor living space.
The decking was constructed using low-maintenance composite decking in a rich Mahogany color. The warm, natural appearance provides the beauty of traditional hardwood while offering superior resistance to fading, staining, and weather exposure. To further elevate the design, a picture-frame border was incorporated around the deck perimeter, creating a refined finished appearance and helping define the overall layout.
A custom slanted roof was installed over the primary entertaining area, providing shade and protection from the elements. Integrated Rain Guard technology allows the homeowners to enjoy the space even during wet weather while helping keep the area beneath the deck drier and more functional.
The railing system features bronze aluminum drink railings that complement the Mahogany decking while providing a durable, low-maintenance solution. The wide drink rail offers convenient space for beverages, outdoor dining accessories, and decorative accents during gatherings.
To enhance evening enjoyment, under-rail lighting was incorporated throughout the project, creating a warm ambiance after sunset while improving visibility and safety. A ceiling fan mounted beneath the covered roof improves airflow and comfort during Pennsylvania’s warmer months.
The completed project delivers multiple outdoor living zones, weather protection, integrated lighting, and premium finishes, creating a backyard destination designed for entertaining, relaxation, and year-round enjoyment.
