Coconut Husk TimberTech Deck with Covered Porch Details

Completed in Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania, in 2023, this project replaced an older deck with a large composite outdoor living space and incorporated additional finishing work beneath the adjoining porch roof.

The existing deck was completely demolished and removed before the new 12′ × 36′ structure was built. The finished deck provides approximately 432 square feet of primary outdoor space, along with a 5′ × 6′ landing that adds another 30 square feet.

Pressure-treated 2″ × 10″ joists spaced 16 inches on center form the deck frame. A double 2″ × 12″ beam and substantial 6″ × 6″ posts support the structure, with two posts continuing upward to help support the existing porch roof.

The deck surface features TimberTech Prime+ Collection composite decking in Coconut Husk. Its warm brown color creates a natural wood-inspired appearance while providing a lower-maintenance surface for the expansive deck and landing.

Two steps and the 5′ × 6′ landing provide access between the deck and yard. The project also included an added support wall and an unfinished T1-11 porch ceiling. The customer supplied the siding used to finish the porch side walls.
