Accessible Pressure-Treated Entry Deck in Sinking Spring, PA

This compact custom deck replacement in Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania, created a durable and accessible entrance to the home. The project combines a 7′ × 4′ landing with an additional section measuring approximately 5′ × 4’6″, providing around 51 square feet of usable space.

The existing deck was removed and replaced with a new structure built from pressure-treated lumber. A pressure-treated 2″ × 8″ frame and matching deck boards provide a strong, practical surface designed to withstand moisture, insects, and Pennsylvania’s changing weather.

The ledger board was matched to the height of the joists and secured to the home with 5-inch LedgerLOK fasteners. Silicone sealant and Z-flashing were installed to help prevent moisture from collecting behind the ledger.

Pressure-treated 6″ × 6″ posts support the double beam and rest on 8,000 PSI footer pads installed approximately 36 inches below the surface. Unstained pressure-treated railings surround the deck and landing.

Four-foot-wide pressure-treated stairs provide access to grade. A secondary ADA vinyl handrail and a reinforced vinyl stair handrail with an aluminum insert provide additional support and improve accessibility.
